Elaine Fong, our amazing Taiko teacher, taught the WSS drummers this in our last rehearsal (it’s big):
“If you are going to be wrong, do it with energy!”
She was telling us that we need to stop being tentative on the big drums – to go for it – and look like we know what we’re doing.
The result is here. Advance to 4:30 to see the windup to the big finish by the group. Maybe not exactly the same moment, but with great energy!!!

This week, I learned that when they tell you to empty your pockets at airport security, they mean it- I had to have two full body x-rays because I had a tissue and a hair elastic in my pocket. And I feel lucky, compared to a woman who had the same experience in this article:

Sally learned this today:
A small cup of tea or coffee on a pod machine = a REALLY tiny cup of coffee. Like, 6 ounces. Re-evaluate what makes something big or small BEFORE you hit the button.
Kathleen taught me her boss’s mantra: “I spread peace not discord wherever I go.”
As a bonus, I learned how to spell discord!
Caren was sitting in a nice seat in the sun, in Boston’s Chinatown, to eat her lunch. A friendly man kept pointing above her head. She looked up and saw a long row of pigeon bottoms, hanging over a building edge!
She found a better place to sit.
On a very early morning at Logan, Sally learned that you don’t actually need to haul over to another terminal to find breakfast somewhere traditional, such as Dunkin’ Donuts. It turns out that every vendor serves breakfast! Including Boston Beerworks, and way beyond beer.
learned Michelle, as she is trying to recreate her job and task history, from memory, in the process of finding a new and much better job.
That’s what Doug calls his “recipe” and I learned this at a staff meeting.
He takes Panera’s Broccoli Cheddar Soup, and then crumbles potato chips (I think they may have been Sour Cream and Onion) on top.
It looked amazing.
I learned, for at least the second time, that Veteran’s Day is the BEST day to commute in and out of Boston! The bus FLEW in both directions! It was shocking. And wonderful!
