I guess I’ve been having some great days!

Gale sent me this on a day I could really really use it: “A bad day for the ego is a great day for the soul”

She read it in a book by Jillian Michaels, although it seems to have been kicking around otherwise.

This is incredibly profound or else I am just desperate.  Thoughts?

Pro-Whining

From Sal

Sometimes, whining works!  I canceled my Comcast service and switched to a new cable provider for my new apartment, since I had such trouble with their billing department for the last 12 months.  The first time I called to cancel, they wanted to charge me $75 to end one week early, make me sit around with my cable box, and keep the new people from getting cable for a week.  But I tried back a few days later, and explained my problems right up front to the new person, who is not only easily ending our service as requested, but we get to deliver the box whenever we’re done with it and we are getting a refund, instead of a fee.  Whining win!

Servant Leadership

Ben introduced me to this new term. I’ll let you know more after I read the books I ordered, but for now…

From Wikipedia: “Servant leadership is a philosophy and practice of leadership, coined and defined by Robert Greenleaf and supported by many leadership and management writers such as James Autry, Ken Blanchard, Stephen Covey, Peter Block, Peter Senge, Max DePree, Larry Spears, Margaret Wheatley, James C. Hunter, Kent Keith, Ken Jennings, Don Frick and others. Servant-leaders achieve results for their organizations by giving priority attention to the needs of their colleagues and those they serve. Servant-leaders are often seen as humble stewards of their organization’s resources (human, financial and physical).”

Thanks For…

Everything! I am learning that many of my lessons are about Gratitude. So much so, that I am making a new category for it. I don’t know if I’ll get to backtracking and categorizing, but going forward I’ll use the new category. I don’t even know what you do with categories, but you can be sure that I’ll share it when I learn it!

Be Kind and Merciful

This is the actual quote sent to me by the Mediation Society of Australia ( http://meditation.org.au/ )

“Be kind and merciful. Let no one ever come to you without coming away better and happier. Be kind and merciful. Let no one ever come to you without coming away better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness. – Mother Teresa”

So I googled it (April 1 is THE best day to Google I mean Topeka) to see if it was redundant on purpose and no, Mother Teresa is not quoted elsewhere as saying the first part twice but maybe it just needs to be said twice.

Daughters: Is the shortcut to this familar? Y/Y?

Ask

I may need a new category for Big Lessons, and this is one for me.

Sometimes I just need to ASK.  Instead of trying to figure out the answer or project what it is I’m answering at all, I need to just ASK: What do you have in mind?  What are your solutions for this?

I don’t have to have all the answers.  Sometimes I just need to ASK the questions.

Answers abound.
