I learned that kayaking and rushing is a terrible combination! I learned that it’s a very bad arrangement to have to catch up with other paddlers. Hard to do and not fun.
At the same time, I learned that kayaking with a bunch of friendly strangers can be really fun.
Just start out together or go another day.
I have learned that a day can go any way at all and that I can’t tell how the day is going to go, just by how it starts.
Oh. Big.
I am learning that the less dependent I am on external validation, the more stable I am. Fewer highs, perhaps, but more meaningful ones. And definitely fewer lows, and not as deep.

What have you found?
My brother learned that you need to focus on cutting down the tree when you are cutting down a tree. Never mind that strange guy in the parking lot. Get him out of the way and then focus! This was a painful lesson and one from which he is still recovering.

This is so big I can’t even take it in.
My 7 AM boot camp is really hard. Yesterday is was hard muscle stuff. Today it was really hard cardio stuff (oh yeah, I’ve learned that running does not qualify as training for sprinting!) I’ve learned that the hardest thing is to get out the door. After that I’m on my way, in the car, out of the car, and stuck doing whatever ridiculous challenge they throw at us for the session. There is only one decision: go or not go. The rest is just DO.
I learn that when the going gets tough, my husband is always there for me!
Oh daughters, marry as well as I did!
Kat learned, and taught me, that when you come home from Afar, it’s not fair to expect your friends to drop everything to visit.
(but it is sweet when they do!)
