Flip a Coin
Lava taught me this: When you need to make a choice, flip a coin. Then see if you like that answer. That will tell you what you really needed to chose in the first place.
I tried it today. I chose both.
Insider Info
This is from Andrea, a cashier in the Dana-Farber cafeteria, which is way in the basement of the building, when I asked her why she was singing:
“When it’s nice outside you can feel it inside”
Wow
Still with the power cords
My lesson today is to try to learn the lesson from Feb 4 already: Keep the darn power cord with the device, or risk being off-line and out of the loop and device-less.
Unexpected
This is from Celeste L:
“Even though things in life are bad or going really rough at some point, you have to remember that it will get better, maybe in a way that you don’t expect”
Uncanny Valley
Today I learned, from NHPR and “On The Media”, about the Uncanny Valley. It turns out that if computer animation is 90% realistic, that’s cool 92% still cool. 95% all good. But when it hits 96%, it totally freaks us out. Kids cried when the Shrek princess hit that threshold. Monkeys look away.
To get the full effect, you really need to hear this podcast or check out this transcript (Monday afternoon). Then tell me what you think!
The Public Option
I have learned that I am not as public as I imagined. I learn lots of things that I just can’t post because they are not things I can share with the world. Some of them are about work, some are about people and they don’t make sense – or become coherent lessons – out of context.
What I can do is get all general about what I am learning, and I will continue to do that here. I am continously amazed at how much I learn every day.

Lucky Lucky Me
In recent days I have learned, for the millionth time, that I am a very lucky person, to be surrounded by the most nurturing family and kindest friends a girl could ever hope for.
Lucky lucky me!
At the beep…
leave a message! Jomol learned this lesson this week, and shared it with me. If it’s worth a call, it’s probably worth a message. Say what you came to say, leave a message at the beep, and you may not have that open action item hanging over you.
